Recently featured on the Today’s Show, Elizabeth Walters from Florence, Alabama joined Marlo Thomas in a heartwarming segment to help kick off the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s 6th annual Thanks and Giving campaign. Elizabeth is an accomplished junior national equestrian, a patient at the world-renowned children’s research hospital. Read on to find out more about this amazing young lady and dedicated equestrian!
Q: What’s your biggest ambition as a rider?
A: I’ve always had my eye on going to Rolex. I think that’s every eventers dream! I went to watch Rolex a few years ago and it became my goal to compete there someday! I compete at the Kentucky Horse Park a lot, and I love it there! I love looking at the Rolex cross country jumps when I walk my course. Pretty big difference!
Q: Tell us about the horse you’ve felt the most connected to and why.
A: The horse I own now, Montini, is definitely one of my favorites! He’s a 18hh Thoroughbred and a grandson of Seattle Slew. Basically, he’s awesome! I have the best time riding him whether it’s hacking, dressage, or jumping. He loves his job and is always game to learn new things and jump something different. Montini really helped me keep my spirits high when I was undergoing chemothearpy earlier this year. I always looked forward to getting back on him and competing again one day.
Q: What’s the latest movie you’ve watched?
A: The Proposal
Q: What’s your dream vacation and why?
A: I would love to go to Ireland and be able to take Montini with me! It would be awesome to ride in such a beautiful environment!
Q: If you were a candy/sweets/chocolate, what would you be?
A: I would be a Carmello Bar! Those are my favorite!
Q: Do you have a good luck charm?
A: Since I finished my chemotherapy at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, I have worn a necklace with a St. Jude charm everyday.
Q: If you were going to have a song be your anthem, what would it be?
A: The Luckiest by Ben Folds
Q: What’s your fashion style outside of the barn?
A: I usually just dress for comfort. My riding clothes make up half my wardrobe.
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: I would live just where I do now. After spending so much time away from normalcy, I really appreciate being in my own house, with my horse a few miles away.
Q: What’s your favorite HorseGirlTV webisode and why?
A: Riding to Music with Equichord. That looks like so much fun! It would be awesome to try that!
